Who We Are
ASTERIS is an innovative, progressive firm focusing on technology solutions for the veterinary practitioner.
Founded in 2004, ASTERIS delivers innovative PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) solutions and
a groundbreaking veterinary information communication platform. Our breakthrough concept, The Veterinary
Communication Network (VCN) enables veterinary practices, practitioners, and clients to access and share
patient medical history, studies, and account information, at any time, from anywhere in the world.
Offering a unique approach in the veterinary industry, VCN aims to provide unparalleled access, management,

modern medical modalities, patient information, and industry data produced and employed by leading veterinary
practitioners. ASTERIS endeavors to revolutionize the communication and sharing of information across the
veterinary industry. To achieve this vision, we will provide the infrastructure, process, and support to
connect our clients and their colleagues to the full suite of veterinary intellectual property.
Industry Shortcomings
For years, the veterinary industry has been underserved from technology and advancements in technical management.
While veterinary medicine has advanced significantly, many practices have not invested the resources to capitalize
on the efficiencies that technology can bring to their practice, with regard to medical modalities and medical
information management.
A significant number of veterinary practices employ multiple technology tools/solutions in their regular practice
activities. Regardless of the particular systems utilized, the majority of these practices have not fully integrated
the various tools being employed, nor do they realize the advantages of improving their technology management.
Current Solutions
Current solutions for information and technology management fail to capture the specific needs of veterinary
practitioners. No enterprise-level solution currently incorporates all aspects of technical veterinary medicine,
either within the practice itself, or among the greater industry landscape. Additionally, sharing veterinary
information between practices and across the world is a process that has never before been undertaken.
ASTERIS addresses a host of current market failures, identified by leading veterinary practitioners, which include:
- Failure to provide real-time availability to studies, records, and medical information
- Significant capital investment requirements for currently available options
- Heavy reliance on IT infrastructure within the practice landscape
- Inadequate disaster recovery and archive integrity
- Lack of complete website integration and external access capabilities
- Absence of the ability to manage the full breadth of modern modalities
- Nonexistent scalable, customizable solutions to meet specific practice needs
